Why did Yancheng kill the city?

Because there are many natural disasters in Yancheng, and Yancheng people prefer to make a fuss, some things can't be said well. Most of Yancheng's population is descended from Jiangnan immigrants, so traditional culture and people's psychological state belong to traditional Jiangnan culture. Therefore, many Yancheng people retain the aftertaste of Jiangnan.

However, yancheng dialect is not as soft as five tones, and Huai Opera is more unrestrained and sad, without the tenderness of Jiangnan. Why? This is related to Yancheng's heavy historical factors.

The story of Yancheng

In the past, Yancheng people were forced to migrate or sent from Jiangnan, where the environment was superior. However, Yancheng is remote, prone to disasters and unsuitable for living. Although Yancheng is the main salt producing area, due to the lack of external economy, it has been at the end of the industrial chain, supporting the imperial court and salt merchants at the upper end of the industrial chain.

Here, there is a high probability of being caught as a salt farmer, or reduced to fishermen and forced labor. Salt smelting is to boil seawater in a cauldron and seal the sea to dry salt, which was one of the most difficult civil servants at that time.

At that time, the life of Yancheng people was too bitter, natural and man-made disasters, the Yellow Sea tide often flooded and starved everywhere, and the people had to run around crying and swallowing blood and tears. The ancestors of Yancheng suffered too much in this land. In the twenty-third year of Hongwu (1390), the seawall was washed away by the tide, and more than 30,000 people were drowned in five salt pits in East Taipei.
