What is the experience of studying in Korea?
When I first arrived in Korea, what I felt most was the high price in Korea; I can only speak three sentences in Korean, and the most fluent one is Azu Pisada (too expensive). Foreign students who have just come to Korea to study should feel this way.
The diary of my first day in Korea half a year ago is like this: the teacher took us to the nearby supermarket to buy some daily necessities. A washbasin 3200 (the exchange rate of RMB in Korea in 2003 was about 135: 1), a soap box 1600, a pair of slippers 2700, a bag of toast 2500 and an apple ... finally, it was a shock: what a cannibal society! Now I understand why those who come back from abroad to publish books all write like a running account; Before going abroad, math was not so good. After going abroad, the currency exchange rate is converted faster than the calculator. The first sentence that the brothers and sisters who have long been eccentric met was: enter the supermarket! A coin of 500 won can only be put into the vending machine to buy a small can of coke. What is sold by weight in China has to be bought by weight here.
No wonder the price is too high. In South Korea, the monthly salary of ordinary restaurant chefs is 2 million won (about RMB 6,543,800+4,000 yuan). A primary school cleaner can earn at least 700,000 won a month. Not to mention the employees of companies engaged in advanced service industries. A year's hard work in China is not as good as a chef. No wonder China students work hard when they come to Korea. The number of international students going to Korea is increasing every year, but the proportion of students who stop their studies for no reason is also increasing. This is one of the most headache and helpless problems for the Korean Immigration Bureau.
Not only we, but also Koreans themselves are complaining about the high price. Especially in recent years, with the economic depression and rising unemployment rate in Korea, Koreans who used to travel abroad with their families are now inevitably timid when spending money. In supermarkets and free markets, housewives who stand in front of similar goods because of the price difference of tens of won can often be seen. Every holiday weekend, when there are special fruits and vegetables in the nearby supermarket, it is even more crowded.
The school has a student canteen with a meal 1500 yuan, which is semi-self-help. Except that the main course is cooked by a chubby and timid aunt, you can help yourself with the complimentary food and rice as needed. The side dish is kimchi, radish or cabbage, plus a bowl of warm miso soup. Most of the spoons are fried pork slices with onion, red-cooked chicken, bone potatoes and boiled tofu. Once, jiaozi was fried only four pockets in size. This meat is also suspicious. It tastes like neither pork nor beef. We were told that this was a duck. It is puzzling that ducks in Korea are so cheap. It was fresh at first and I enjoyed every meal. No matter how strange this meal is, at least it is Ding Han's food. After eating for a month, I can't stand it anymore. I started my own business and bought a rice cooker to cook instant noodles. But college can't eat instant noodles all the time for four years. Anyway, all this is just the beginning, and the days ahead are still long.
As a student, it is relatively inexpensive to eat and live at school. Generally, Korean universities do not provide dormitories, and even if they do, only students who live in remote areas and have excellent grades are eligible to apply. Our university is a national university, and the tuition and accommodation fees are very cheap, about 30,000 RMB per year, which is one third of that of private universities. The school gives preferential treatment to foreign students. As long as the application is made, dormitories are generally provided. Apartment dormitories provide hot water 24 hours a day, and only charge 50 thousand won a month. This is definitely an ultra-low standard in Korea.
