At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Ming Taizu expelled the Tatars, and the north was vast and sparsely populated. In the second year of Yongle (1404), the Ming dynasty began to organize villages in Tangshan: local people organized societies and relocated households organized villages. As a result, ancient villages such as Qiaotou Tun, Liujiatun and Majiatun gradually formed.

Tangshan used to be a remote village and a heavy industrial city developed with the development of coal resources.
