According to the application characteristics of English in different professional fields and the actual situation of professional and technical personnel mastering and using English, different requirements are put forward for the English level of candidates for professional and technical posts at different levels. The exam is offered in six languages: English, Japanese, Russian, German, French and Spanish. National English Test (PETS) is a social English test designed by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education. In the process of development, the test was funded by the British Department for International Development (DFID) and supported by the Local Examinations Committee of Cambridge University (UCLES), and became a cooperative project of cultural exchange between China and Britain. Those who pass the individual performance can obtain the corresponding individual performance certificate.
