After applying for Brazilian immigration, how long will it take to get a Brazilian passport?

Getting a Brazilian passport is naturalization, which is also commonly referred to as naturalization (Naturaliza?o Comum).

The general conditions for naturalization in Brazil are as follows:

1. Have civil capacity.

2. Registered residence in Brazil.

3. When applying for naturalization, you must have lived in Brazil for at least 4 consecutive years.

4. Can read and write Portuguese.

5. Have a job or the financial conditions to support a family.

6. Good conduct.

7. Have not committed any crime of fraud with a sentence of more than one year in Brazil or other countries.

The so-called continuous residence in Brazil for at least 4 years refers to the time of legal residence, such as temporary visa, long-term residence visa, official visa or diplomatic visa, and residence registration when applying for naturalization (i.e. Long-term residence ID card). If the applicant has Brazilian children or spouses, the required period of continuous residence in Brazil can be shortened to 1 year.

Applications for naturalization should be submitted to the federal police station near your place of residence.
