Where is the biggest power station in China?

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station, namely the Yangtze Three Gorges Water Control Project, is also called the Three Gorges Project. The Xilingxia reach of the Yangtze River in Yichang City, Hubei Province, China, and the Gezhouba Hydropower Station in the lower reaches form a cascade hydropower station.

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower station in the world and the largest construction project in China. However, many problems caused by it, such as immigration, environment and so on, have been accompanied by great controversy since the moment it started construction. The Three Gorges Hydropower Station has more than ten functions such as shipping, power generation and planting. The Three Gorges Hydropower Station was approved by the National People's Congress of China in 1992 and officially started construction in 1994. On the afternoon of June 1 2003, water storage and power generation began, and it was fully completed in 2009.
