Historical evolution of Huaying Xikou

The development of Xikou Town was in line with the social and political pulse of the time. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, like other places in Sichuan, it experienced a period of decline. The ruling class Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty brutally suppressed the peasant uprising army Zhang Xianzhong, resulting in a sharp decline in population and a vast area with sparsely populated areas. The Qing government had to adopt a policy of immigrants from other provinces to Sichuan. During the Kangxi and Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty (1662 to 1795 AD), a large number of immigrants from Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangxi immigrated to Sichuan. Among the local residents, most of them had their ancestral roots and moved there when "Huguang Coal filled Sichuan". The Yu Palace in the town (now the town primary school) was built by Huguang people. There are also ruins of Jiangxi Guild Hall in Huaying Coal Mine. The sixteenth year of Qianlong (1751 AD) was a prosperous period here. "Huayinshan Chronicle" records that in the 16th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty, the Shunqing Prefecture General Office was established in Daxikou (the site is in the Huaying Coal Mine), and the province was merged in the 12th year of Emperor Daoguang's reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Qing Dynasty (1832 AD). It is also recorded that Daxikouchang Market is located at the west intersection of today's Xikouchang. It used to be next to Donglin Temple and on the other side of the river to the west. The ruins of the street still exist. During the Qianlong period, the market was moved to its current location. There are 35 temples in Daxikou, which can prove its prosperity.

In 1950, it was established in Xikou Township.

It was transformed into a commune in 1958.

The town was established in 1983, and on November 28, Xikou Town was established.

In September 1984, Xikou Township was abolished and merged into Xikou Town.

Before 1978, Xikou Town was only a small market. There are only a few streets with 230 households and more than 2,130 people. From 1978 to 1993, the development and construction of Xikou Town went through a tortuous and arduous road.

Due to the Great Leap Forward of Production in 1958, 130,000 acres of forest (approximately 560,000 cubic meters of wood) in Huaying Mountain were cut down. By 1962, the Xikou Ironworks ceased operations and the coal mines were closed. In agriculture, due to the influence of the "exaggeration trend" and the "left" erroneous thinking of focusing solely on food, the food and clothing problem of the masses has not been solved. The agricultural grain yield has been hovering around 300 kilograms per mu for a long time. There is no way to get rich, and we are still living with money. Relying on loans and living a hard life of food resale. The counter-revolutionary clique of Lin Biao and Jiang Qing was crushed, ending the ten years of turmoil of the Cultural Revolution. Especially after the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the joint production contract responsibility system was implemented in rural areas, and the grain yield per mu reached more than 800 kilograms. The people's food and clothing have been fundamentally solved. Encouraged by the policy of "reform, opening up and invigoration", Xikou's agriculture, industry, forestry, animal husbandry and sideline fishery developed rapidly. Township enterprises relying on market towns, driven by key state-owned enterprises, have sprung up all over the towns. After the establishment of the district in 1993, the development and construction of Xikou Town has advanced by leaps and bounds, and emerging industries, tourism, specialty agriculture, and social undertakings have made great progress. Borrow the spring sunshine and the flowers are blooming. Xikou, an open and open country, warmly welcomes all successful people to visit, invest and purchase properties, and work together to plan development plans and create fruitful results together.
