Brief Introduction of Li Yutang Reservoir Scenic Area

On July 22nd, 1999, the water and soil conservation scheme of Li Yutang Reservoir in Kaixian County passed the expert review organized by the Ministry of Water Resources in Beijing. The reservoir is located in the upper reaches of Taoxi River, a secondary tributary of Xiaojiang, a tributary of the Yangtze River, 47 kilometers away from Kaixian County, with a dam height of 105 meters. Concrete face rockfill dam is adopted, with irrigation area of 1, 6 1.86. 7 hectares, normal water level elevation of 450m, total water surface of 3 1.04 hectares and total storage capacity of 1.00. The irrigation area involves Zhengba, Guojia, Baihe, Hanfeng, Houba, Zhendong and Linjiang 18 towns. It focuses on agricultural irrigation, resettlement and new county water supply, and integrates power generation, flood control and sand prevention. It is the first large-scale water conservancy project submitted to the state for approval since Chongqing was directly under the central government, and it is also the largest water conservancy project since Kaixian County was established. At the time when the county's tourism industry is in the ascendant, it is necessary to build Li Yutang into a tourist attraction with comprehensive functions such as natural scenery, leisure and holiday, summer cooling and conference service, and make Kaixian a veritable regional central city in Chongqing. After the completion of the reservoir, with the help of the state and Chongqing's policy inclination to the Three Gorges Economic Development Zone and the successful development experience of reservoir-type tourist attractions, we will open up investment and financing channels, comprehensively develop and construct the tourist resources of Li Yutang Reservoir, and make it a tourist attraction with complete service facilities, supporting recreational projects, unique human landscape and natural scenery.
