Introduction to Xiangshui County

Xiangshui is one of the counties under the jurisdiction of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the northern part of Sanjiang Prefecture on the Yangtze River, on the northeastern coast of Jiangsu Province, at the junction of Lianyungang, Huai'an and Yancheng. It borders the Yellow Sea to the east, faces the Korean Peninsula and Japan's Kyushu Island across the sea; lies on the Guan River in the north, and is connected to the Guan River in the northeast and south. The town is dependent on each other; it borders Guannan and Lianshui counties in the west, reaches Zhongshan River in the south, and is adjacent to Binhai County. It was officially established in April 1966 with the approval of the State Council. Because the county government is located in Xiangshui Town, it is adjacent to the Guan River. The river bed is deep and wide. The water level difference is large when the tide rises and falls. The tributaries merge into the river and make a roaring sound, so it is named Xiangshui. The longest straight line from east to west of the county is 61 kilometers long, and it is 21 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of ??1,461 square kilometers. Xiangshui has a profound historical and cultural heritage. A large number of immigrants were dispersed by Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty and made a living by boiling salt and fishing. The "Guyuntiguan" within the territory is the estuary of the ancient Huaihe River and is a key cultural relic protection unit in the province. It is a national ecological demonstration zone, an advanced county in grain and cotton production in the country, an advanced county in plain greening in the country, the hometown of shallow water lotus root in China, the hometown of Eucommia ulmoides in China, and a pilot county for comprehensive reform in Jiangsu Province.
