Do China people have a high social status in the United States?

Generally speaking, the United States still thinks that China people have a low status. We learned a lot about early immigrants from China in American history class. The salary of doing the same job is much lower than that of whites, and there have been several movements to exclude China people. Up to now, although it has opened up a lot, most Americans' understanding and ideas about China have not changed. This has nothing to do with individuals, but ability is only one aspect. The quality of most Chinese in the United States is far from that of the locals.
