What do Malaysians wear?

The three major national costumes in Malaysia are cheongsam, salon and Dodi.

The traditional clothes of Malay men and women are: men wear collarless shirts, trousers, short sarong around their waists, a "loose ancient" hat and leather shoes. A lady's dress is also a blouse and sarong, as wide as a robe, and is covered with a monochromatic bright scarf.

For the convenience of work, migrant workers generally wear light-colored suits, and only wear traditional clothes when they come home from work or visit relatives and friends or major festivals. On various formal occasions, men can wear long-sleeved Buddy shirts in addition to national costumes or suits.

Extended data:

According to the constitutional definition, Malays are Muslims who practice Malay customs (customary law) and culture. They have a political advantage. Some non-Malay aborigines have also obtained indigenous status, including Thai, Khmer, Zhan, Sabah and Sarawak aborigines. Non-Malay aborigines account for more than half of Sarawak's population and more than two thirds of Sabah's population.

There are also a few indigenous groups on the peninsula, collectively known as Orang Asli. States have different laws and regulations on who can obtain indigenous identity.
