Guangxi Guiliu dialect originated from Sichuan dialect. It is said that before liberation, Guangxi people all spoke their own language. It was not until the People's Liberation Army from Sichuan entered northern Guangxi that the people in northern Guangxi began to learn their language and gradually evolved into a unique language in northern Guangxi in combination with local pronunciation habits. Because Sichuan soldiers brought the language, we also called it "an army speaker who speaks Guiliu dialect".

The main body of Liuzhou dialect is Shangjiang Mandarin brought from Huguang Garrison in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and influenced by Cantonese brought by boat people upstream from Guangdong. Basically, the initials are Cantonese and the finals are Shangjiang Mandarin. This Shangjiang River is the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, which was originally a Huguang province, including Wuhan and Chongqing.

As for Sichuanese, the original Sichuanese were all massacred by the western armies in Zhang in the late Ming Dynasty. Now Sichuan dialect is not spoken by Bashu people since ancient times, but Shangjiang Mandarin brought by immigrants from Hubei and Hunan. Shangjiang Mandarin spread to the whole southwest with immigrants, forming the later Southwest Mandarin including Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces! Liuzhou dialect and Sichuan dialect are indeed developed from different regions. They were a family about 500 years ago! We Liuzhou people can basically understand 95% of Sichuan dialect, while Sichuanese can only understand half of Liuzhou dialect. After all, Sichuan dialect is closer to northern mandarin!

The formation of northern Guangxi mandarin such as Guilin, Liuzhou and Hechi was also brought by the garrison in the Ming Dynasty. So the accent in this area is close to that in Sichuan and Guizhou. However, because Guiliu area is located in South Vietnam, Guiliu dialect is influenced by Cantonese, and the pronunciation of individual words is different from that of Sichuan dialect. Hanzhong and Ankang in southern Shaanxi have been influenced by Sichuan culture since ancient times, so it is natural to say Sichuan dialect. Although Xiangxi and Chongqing are not the boundaries of a province, they are both in Wuling Mountain area, and their language and culture are also in the same strain.
