Should I give up my party member status and become a permanent resident of Hong Kong?

Article 1 of party constitution clearly stipulates: "Workers, peasants, soldiers, intellectuals and advanced elements from other social strata in China, who have reached the age of 18, recognize the Party's program and articles of association, are willing to join one of the Party's organizations, actively work in it, implement the Party's resolutions, and pay party dues on time, can apply to join the China * * * Production Party."

1. Workers, peasants, soldiers, intellectuals and advanced elements of other social classes in China who have reached the age of 18.

It means that the nationality of party member must be a citizen with China nationality, and foreigners and stateless persons cannot apply.

As Hong Kong is a part of China, there is no need to give up its membership.
