The Historical Evolution of Zhou Fuhai

"Zhou Fuhai"-The Governor of Rudong County, Jiangsu Province has a beautiful antique street named Zhou Fuhai. Zhou Fuhai is the earliest Rudong country name, which first appeared in the history of the later Han Dynasty.

Zhou Fuhai was originally a sandbar formed by the intersection of the South Yellow Sea and the Yangtze River. It seems to be a child supported by the sea and the Yangtze River, hence the name. It was formed in the Western Zhou Dynasty two or three thousand years ago and was not connected with the mainland until the Tang Dynasty.

There is a special sentence in "Chong Chuan Zhi Zhu Ci" to help Haizhou: "There is a rainbow in the west of Huainan Jiangbei to help Haizhou. It is an embarrassing thing to help the coast of Haizhou. The worse you are, the worse you are. " The first two sentences of this Zhi Zhu Ci accurately describe the geographical location of Zhou Fuhai: "Huainan" is south of Huaihe River, "Jiangbei" is north of Yangtze River, and "Haixitou" is west bank of Yellow Sea. This "Zhou Fuhai" is what we call Rudong. Therefore, Shi Zhili said that it was called "Fu Haizhou" in ancient times.

There are three or four sentences in this word that people living in Zhou Fuhai are "good at Wu Shu". You are singing. "Good Wu Shu" means loving and singing Wu Ge. Why do Rudong people living in Jiangbei like to sing Wu Ge when they sing folk songs in Wudi area? It turns out that Rudong belonged to Wudi in ancient times, but Rudong people were mostly immigrants, and few of them were born and raised. Among the immigrants, Jiangnan people are mostly Wu. Thousands of years later, many Rudong people can't speak Jiangnan dialect, but the melodious and brisk Jiangnan Wu Ge can still find its charm in Rudong folk songs today.

The street pavilion is named "Fuhai", which means that things change and the ancient rhyme still exists. The ancient "Zhou Fuhai" area, now Rudong County, was originally a sandbar in the sea, which has evolved through vicissitudes. The formation of the mainland can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period more than 2,000 years ago. In the Qing Dynasty, Yangzhou Fuzhi recorded: "In the Qin and Han Dynasties, Changzhou Ze was in the east of Taizhou and Zhou Fuhai was in the east." "Jiaqing Unification Records" contains "Digging a harbor on the sandbar in Dongjiang County". According to the records of the later Han Dynasty, Guangling County was the fief of Liu Bang's nephew Wu. "There are famous grass teachers in Zhou Fuhai, but they actually eat like barley. From July, people collect it until winter. " This shows that "Zhou Fuhai" has been included in the brand territory and is becoming more and more developed.

The development of "Zhou Fuhai" is the result of the long-term efforts of the working people of past dynasties, and the ancestors paid a lot of blood and sweat for it. There is a primitive temple in Digang, with its gate facing east and facing the sea. The plaque is engraved with four Chinese characters, meaning to break through thorns and open up wasteland. Legend has it that three brothers came to this vast sandbar in ancient times. They are not afraid of the invasion of sea breeze and seawater. They work at sunrise and rest at sunset. Day after day, year after year, they left the first footprints of their ancestors here and planted the first crops on this continent. Later generations admire their pioneering spirit, and they set up a temple for sacrifice, which they will never forget.
