The so-called Guandong refers to the area east of Shanhaiguan, commonly known as Guanwai, which can be simply understood as the present northeast region. This is the birthplace of Manchu and the seat of Long Mai in Qing Dynasty. Therefore, during the Qing dynasty, the control was very strict, and Han people were allowed to migrate freely only in the early Qing dynasty. Soon, the Qing government blocked the northeast and prohibited Han people from entering, in order to prevent Manchu from being completely sinicized. As a result, a large number of uninhabited wasteland and even large areas of no man's land have appeared in Northeast China.

Ganlong once made a special imperial edict, clearly stipulating that farming and cutting down trees are prohibited in the land of Northeast China, so as to maintain the custom of riding, shooting and hunting the Eight Banners in the wilderness. At the same time, a large number of Han people who sneaked into Kanto were searched and repatriated.

If hunting is too dangerous and you don't want to hunt, immigrants who make a living by panning for gold and collecting herbs can directly buy cultivated land or hire people to reclaim land. Zhu Kaishan, who first joined the Boxer Rebellion and was hunted by the Qing court, first went to Kanto for gold, and then used the money from the gold rush to buy land and real estate.

If they are rich, or they are already good at doing business, they also go to Kanto to continue their trade. For example, Xia Yuanzhang's boss, who almost starved to death on the boat, turned out to be a businessman. After arriving in Kanto, he continued to make a living by trading, buying furs and herbs and selling them to mountain products.

If you have no capital, you are not good at hunting, and you don't want to go for gold or collect herbs. You are only good at farming. At this time, there is an excessive way, that is, to be a helper or tenant first and gradually accumulate capital. As long as you don't give up, you will tide over the difficulties.

People who set foot on the trip to Kanto want to live. Most of them are hardworking people. Therefore, if you are determined to reclaim wasteland and want to own your own land, as long as you are diligent and willing to work, there is always a way to get through the gap period when the grain has not been harvested.
