It took 13 years for a black slave to become emperor. Why was the first order given to him to exterminate all white people?

In Western history, the slave trade was a despicable and shameful act committed by white people. At that time, in pursuit of profit, European colonists plundered black slaves from Africa and then sold them around the world like commodities. Starting from the fifteenth century, the slave trade continued for four hundred years.

Black slaves were oppressed and enslaved by white people and suffered a very tragic fate. Since black slaves did not want to get rid of their oppressed status, countless uprisings of black slaves resisted oppression and fought for freedom. Among them, a black slave led a slave uprising in the 18th century, and then spent thirteen years overthrowing white oppression and becoming emperor. This Jean-Jacques Dessalines is such a person. In 1758 AD, Jean-Jacques Dessalines was born into a black slave family on the island of Haiti (another theory is that he was trafficked here). The island of Haiti was originally inhabited by Indians. During the Age of Discovery, European Spanish colonists came here and brought viruses and bacteria, which wiped out all the native Indians on the island.

After that, many immigrants to Haiti were French. In 1679, Spain ceded the island to France, and France vigorously developed the plantation economy on the island of Haiti. The owner of the plantation let the black slaves grow the crops and reaped the wealth himself. In this way, the rich were the white plantation owners and the poor were the black slaves. In order to better manage black slaves, French King Louis XIV even promulgated a law in 1681 that allowed plantation owners to lynch black slaves at will, which made the living environment of black slaves even more miserable.

On September 20, 1758, a black baby was born to a black slave family on a plantation in Grand-riviere-Norte, Haiti. Due to incomplete historical data, it is only known that this pair of black slave parents only came from West Africa or central Africa. Because the parents were slaves and were not qualified to name their children. So, the plantation owner named the baby Jean-Jacques Dessalines, but when he grew up, this black slave became a great leader!

Dessalines grew up on a plantation as a child. He was originally a mediocre worker. Although life was hard as a black slave, he did not give up his dream and hope of pursuing freedom.

When Dessalines was sold to a free black man, in 1791, a slave uprising broke out in Haiti, and Dessalines also joined the rebel army. Due to his outstanding military talents, he won successive victories in the war.

In 1803, Dessalines led the troops to capture Fotiers and broke the last fortress of the French Expeditionary Force. Afterwards, Dessalines read the Declaration of Independence and declared the establishment of the Republic of Haiti on January 1, 1804, making Haiti the first country established by black slaves in the century.

Dessalines had always called himself "Governor". More than eight months later, he became more ambitious and announced that he wanted to be emperor. In this way, Dessalines spent thirteen years as emperor.

After Dessalines became emperor, he drove out all the white people in Haiti because he hated white people. In this way, between early February 1804 and April 22, 1804, 3,000 to 5,000 French people died. This also intensified the conflict between whites and blacks in Haiti. Dessalines only served as emperor for two years before he was assassinated and met a tragic end.
