Canada does not seem to be open to skilled immigrants

I haven’t seen any information about Canada not opening up skilled immigrants!

Ottawa News on September 18, 2003, Canadian Immigration Minister Denis Codrre announced an important decision by the Department of Immigration to lower the standards for skilled immigrants, namely:

1. Reduce the passing score for skilled immigration applications from 75 points to 67 points, effective immediately;

2. Applications submitted before January 1, 2002 will still be evaluated according to the old law. If they do not meet the conditions, they can be evaluated according to the new immigration law, with a passing score of 67 points;

3. Applicants who were rejected between March 31, 2003 and June 20, 2003, but submitted their applications before January 1, 2002, will also be re-evaluated in accordance with the old law;

4. Applicants who withdrew their cases between January 1, 2002 and the effective date of this amendment may also submit a request for re-examination under the old law;

5. The above two categories of applicants should submit a request for re-examination to the Canadian Immigration Department before January 1, 2005;

6. Applicants who applied for Canadian skilled immigration between January 1, 2002 and June 28, 2002 will not be eligible for this revision.

This policy adjustment has ended the unfair treatment of nearly 100,000 Canadian skilled immigration applicants that lasted for more than a year, giving them hope again.

Canada needs to attract 220,000 to 250,000 new immigrants from abroad every year, and excessively high immigration standards will seriously affect the realization of this goal. This adjustment to the immigration policy will allow more applicants to meet the standards so that the Canadian government’s annual immigration quota can be met. The Immigration Minister once again stated that Canada will continue to encourage the recruitment of skilled immigrants.
