What does French-American mean?
Refers to people of African descent born or living in France or their descendants. African-Americans in France exist because France was once a colonial country in history, and many African countries were its colonies. Many African-Americans immigrated to France during or after the colonial period, forming a group of African-Americans in France. The French Republic, referred to as "France" for short, is a semi-presidential republic in Western Europe, and its overseas territory includes parts of South America and the South Pacific.
