GNIB's full name is Garda National Immigration Bureau, which translates to the National Immigration Bureau of the Police Department, and is responsible for managing the foreign population living and living in Ireland. Any foreign citizen who legally lives or settles in Ireland needs to register with the local police station or GNIB office, and get a credit card-sized IC card with photos, with your basic personal information and GNIB registration number on it. This card can't be used as identification, but it can be used for all government affairs during my stay in Ireland, such as renewal, visa application, entry and exit, etc. Functionally speaking, GNIB card is equivalent to a temporary id card.
