How can a husband apply for a Hong Kong permanent identity card when he marries a Hong Kong wife? What is the procedure? Is it difficult?

Get a marriage certificate and you can apply! My wife put it in the marriage certificate on the third day. But some places have to wait 2-3 years after marriage to apply. The rules are different in every place. So go to the exit-entry administration office where the account is located and check for yourself!

Materials required:

1) Your ID card and household registration book (original and photocopy)

2) Your wife's Hong Kong identity card, home visit permit and Hong Kong birth certificate (if you immigrate to Hong Kong after being born in the Mainland, you need to show your one-way permit to Hong Kong that year). Only a copy of the wife's certificate can be provided, and the original is needed for future interviews.

3) Your marriage certificate and 3 copies each with a 2-inch color white background (that is, 2-inch ID photo, passport size is enough).

4) Fill in the settlement application form

With the above documents, you can apply to the exit-entry administration office where your account is located.

Please note that you can't get a one-way permit until 4-5 years after you register for marriage. After getting a one-way permit, you can go to Hong Kong and live in Hong Kong for seven years before you can apply for a Hong Kong permanent identity card! You can't get a permanent identity card as soon as you arrive in Hong Kong.

It is not difficult to apply for a one-way permit. It's simple, the materials are complete, and they will give you an application receipt after handing it in. In a few years, they will inform you to go through the relevant procedures.
