Which province is Xiliang from now?
Liangzhou in the history of China is not only Liangzhou District in Wuwei City, Gansu Province today. Since the county was founded in Han Dynasty, its name has changed many times, sometimes it is called Wuwei, sometimes it is called Guzang, sometimes it is called Xiliang, and sometimes it is called Liang Qian.
Xiliang has been renamed many times since the establishment of Wuwei County in the Western Han Dynasty. When Xiongnu ruled Hexi Corridor, it was called Guzang. After the Western Han Dynasty occupied Wuwei County, the Eastern Han Dynasty called it Xiliang. Its territory is also large and small. When it was big, it occupied most of Gansu and extended to several surrounding provinces. Historically, it was called Liangzhou.
Xiliang music and dance
It is a famous music and dance that originated in Guliangzhou and spread widely in the Central Plains since the Han and Tang Dynasties. At the beginning of the 4th century AD, the Central Plains was at war, but Liangzhou, which was controlled by the Han people, was relatively stable, and a large number of scholars from the Central Plains came to live in Liangzhou. The arrival of these immigrants brought colorful Central Plains culture of Liangzhou, including some old songs of Han and Wei Dynasties.
As a representative work of western cool music and dance, Ci Hua of Qin and Han Dynasties is a unique Yan music that integrates Liangzhou local music, Central Plains ancient music, Qiuci music and Tianzhu music.
According to experts' research, the music and dance murals in Cave 220 of Dunhuang Grottoes show the scene of playing "western cool music". In the mural, the band * * * consists of 28 people, divided into two groups, left and right opposite. Musicians are exposed or inclined to wear, with different skin colors and hairstyles, playing various percussion instruments, playing and plucking instruments imported from the Central Plains, the Western Regions and foreign countries.
Musical instruments include Zheng, flute, clarinet, square ring, violin, five strings, horizontal flute, waist drum, belly drum, ala drum, Jie drum, Mao Yuan drum, clappers, cymbals, cymbals and snails. Two teams of maiko dressed in white dresses or damask pomegranate skirts danced in bright lights and instrumental music, and kept rotating and stepping on the small round carpet, with towels and silk flying. This may be Hu Xuan dance or Hu Teng dance from the western regions. This painting is the largest music and dance picture in Dunhuang murals.
