Yang Fangling's Education of "Promoting Learning by Three Yang"

March 65438+July 2007 Chongqing Business Daily

At the beginning of the 20th century, the theory of "Four donkey kong" was widely circulated in Chongqing cultural and educational circles. The so-called "Four donkey kong" are not shy knights, they are well-read and gentle scholars. These four scholars are Xiang Chu, Wen Bolu and Mei He. Later, the saying that "three young people promote learning" was circulated in the cultural and educational circles. These three Yangs refer to three teachers, namely, Yang Fangling, Yang Chongxi and Yang, who coach and advocate new learning.

At the foot of Wenfeng Mountain in Huangjueya, the south bank of Chongqing, there is a Guangyi Middle School, which was founded in 1894. Guangyi Middle School evolved from Guangyi College and is a missionary school run by the Friends of Christianity in England. During the period of 1925, the "May 30th Movement" swept across the country, anti-imperialist patriotic movements surged, and a wave of expelling foreign principals appeared in Guangyi Middle School campus. It was at this time that Yang Fangling took over as the principal of Guangyi Middle School until the liberation of Chongqing.

Yang Fangling, 1894, born in Ji 'an, Jiangxi. He was admitted to Guangyi from a private school and graduated from Nan 'an Guangyi Middle School. Later, he was recommended by the church to attend St. John's University in Shanghai, then went to Birmingham University in England to specialize in education, and returned to Guangyi Middle School to teach. After becoming a principal, under the auspices of Yang Fangling, Guangyi's secondary school sponsored by the church has been transformed into a private secondary school. There are more school buildings on campus, a wider playground, a library with tens of thousands of books and a high school with more than 800 students. As a result, Guangyi Middle School has become a famous school in the city and enjoys the reputation of "the crown of Jiangba School".

Autumn scenery Middle School, located in Zhongshan 4th Road, Shangqing Temple, was founded by American Christian missionary Lu Yi 189 1, formerly known as autumn scenery College. After graduating from Qiujing Middle School, Yang, a descendant of Sichuan immigrants, was admitted to the education major of West China University in Chengdu on 19 19, and then went to Northwest University in Chicago to study education. After returning to school, he returned to his alma mater to teach, and served as the principal of Qiujing Middle School from 1934 to 1949.

At the beginning of his tenure, Yang Chongxi made great efforts to change the foreign education model, advocated new learning, and initiated the enrollment of poor children, which made the world feel refreshed. During his fifteen years as principal, he has successively established a series of complete educational institutions, namely, Refined Kindergarten, Refined Primary School, Refined Middle School and Refined Business School, providing a good educational garden for children in Sang Zi.

Yang, a native of Leshan, Sichuan, was born in poverty and his parents died young. Only with the help of English missionaries did he enter Chengdu to study in the English Department of West China Sheikh University. When Yang was young, he set up a work-study program in Changsha, founded a bookstore and edited publications, and later served as Chongqing Hongyu Middle School for ten years. Its mission of "sacred labor" was a great innovation of Chongqing education at that time, which was praised by people at that time.

The "three sheep" who run schools all come from missionary schools, advocating new learning and making their own achievements. Those who do good deeds are called "three-yang sexology" But after liberation, the "three yangs" who began to study went their separate ways. Just when the people's government wanted to arrange a job for him, Yang Yingnian died young. Both Yang Fangling and Yang died unjustly because they were born in a missionary school and studied in Britain and America.

"If you are too demanding, your heart will be straight, but if you are far away, it will hurt" (Chapter 9 of Qu Yuan, Involved in the River). After all, Yang's purpose of running Hongyu Middle School, Yang Fangling's patriotic spirit of running Guangyi Middle School, and Yang Chongxi's popular policy of changing foreign countries into China are all unforgettable. The misunderstanding of history will eventually be revealed to the world. It is gratifying that history has finally made an objective and fair evaluation of the "three yangs" that promote learning!
