Where does Ruihong mullet come from?

Ruihong mullet is a specialty of Ruihong Town, yugan county, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. In Ruihong town, mullet has few bone spurs, high meat content and rich nutrition, which can remove blood stasis and promote regeneration, nourish and recuperate, promote granulation and enrich blood and promote wound healing.

Snakehead is an animal of Perciformes and Cynodontidae. It is a precious freshwater economic fish with large size, fast growth and high economic value. Mullet has less bone spurs, high meat content, rich nutrition, removing blood stasis and promoting regeneration, nourishing and recuperating, promoting granulation and enriching blood, and promoting wound healing. Therefore, mullet is very popular in Southeast Asian countries, coastal areas and Hong Kong and Macao markets.

Yugan county Ruihong mullet breeding base is located in the southeast bank of Poyang Lake and at the entrance of Xinjiang River. At present, it has become the largest mullet breeding base in China and the provincial pollution-free aquatic product breeding base in Jiangxi. The "Langpai" Poyang Lake mullet produced by the base has also been declared as a "green label".

The mullet breeding base in Zhenjiao Village, Ruihong Town, yugan county mainly transforms the low-lying land into ponds, and adopts intensive cultivation with small water bodies. The water level of each pond is more than 300 square meters, the water depth is more than 150cm, and there is 10 ~ 15 cm silt at the bottom of the pond. The environment around the fish pond is quiet and convenient for irrigation and drainage. Drain the fish thoroughly before releasing, clean the pond with quicklime for disinfection, and water it after 15 days. Fish species are released in February-March every year, with a specification of 50-80g/ fish, and it is required to be healthy, disease-free and injury-free, with 5-6 fish per square meter. The specifications of fish species in the same pond should be large and small and uniform. Fish are disinfected with 0.2 ~ 0.5g/m3 malachite green or 2% ~ 3% salt water when entering the pond. Mullet is a carnivorous fish.

Most of the artificial mullet cultured in Zhenjiao Village of Ruihong Town are fed with fresh bait such as small fish and shrimp in Poyang Lake. Feed regularly and quantitatively 2 ~ 3 times a day. If fish and shrimp are insufficient, other animal wastes, such as internal organs of livestock and poultry, should be kept fresh and clean, chopped and disinfected when feeding. Artificial synthetic bait can also be prepared according to the nutritional needs of mullet to supplement the shortage of fresh bait. From June every year, the net is drawn 1 time every month, and large-scale mullet is put on the market one after another or cultured in a special pond to ensure the same size of mullet in the pond.
