Notes on the investigation of Beijing pronunciation in Jingoutun, Luanping County

Putonghua has a clear definition and is based on Beijing dialect and Northern dialect. I went to Chengde more than ten years ago to listen to the local voice, which is very nice and close to Beijing dialect. A friend of Chengde once proudly told me that the Mandarin in Chengde is much purer than that in Beijing, and Beijingers talk too much! Later, I learned that after the founding of New China, the new national common language was "Mandarin", and the voice collection was completed in Jingoutun, Luanping County, Chengde City.

Why Luanping? Moreover, since it is Luanping, why not say that Mandarin is based on the pronunciation of Chengde or Luanping, but emphasizes "Beijing dialect"?

On my way back from north to south in Keshiketeng, Inner Mongolia, I went to Jingoutun Town, Luanping County on the Mid-Autumn Festival and made a short visit. Chatting with local villagers, I feel that their pronunciation is really close to Beijing dialect or Mandarin, a little hard, not too soft, and there is no Peking dialect at all.

Why Luanping? Let's talk about the Ming dynasty first. In the Ming Dynasty, a group of Anhui people competed with Zhu Yuanzhang for the world and first established their capital in Nanjing. Later, Zhu Yuanzhang's son Judy moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing. In the Ming Dynasty, there were also standards of the Ming Dynasty, and the pronunciation was Hongwu Zheng Yun, based on Nanjing dialect. It's only been more than 600 years since the Ming Dynasty, and the soft accents in Beijing dialect are all from the south or Nanjing, which is simply a great fusion of North and South cultures. What is the official language of the Ming Dynasty? There was no tape recorder then, but I can't hear it now. It is said that related technologies can even restore the voices of China people in the Han and Tang Dynasties, so it seems that people in the Ming Dynasty can also hear how they speak. Isn't it beautiful?

It has been almost 400 years since the Qing soldiers entered the customs and occupied the Central Plains. The mainstream of the Qing people is what we now call Manchu, and the Jin people in history are their ancestors. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, they should also have Mandarin, which was the official language of the Qing Dynasty. I read an article the other day, and I was very sad to say that the Chinese we are speaking now was actually created by Manchu people in the process of learning poor Chinese from the Central Plains. This statement is very sad, but the integration of history and nationality is the way it is. Who are the ancestors of the Han people? It's not entirely clear, so don't be too sad. The Qing people looked down on the Han people, but they felt inferior. They consciously studied Chinese culture and looked at the calligraphy and paintings and articles of the Qing royal family. They should know that they are not too bad at language.

He went on to say that in the Ming Dynasty, Mengyuan was not completely destroyed by Zhu Yuanzhang, but retreated to Mobei to make a comeback at any time. Judy regards Beijing as his capital and directly regards the capital as the front line of the country. His courage is commendable. Therefore, Judy needed a lot of people to defend the land at that time. At that time, after years of fighting, ten rooms were empty, which led to the great immigration of Sophora japonica in Hong Tong. In addition to big immigrants, there are many small immigrants. This is about Luanping, which is the closest place to the southernmost tip of Beijing. During Judy's great migration, many Luanping people moved to Baoding and other places in Hebei Province. After the overall migration of the organizational system, Chengde became a no-man's land, with no population for hundreds of years.

Kangxi built a summer resort in Chengde in the Qing Dynasty. Many royal families and banners followed Chengde's development, doing business and rebuilding villages near Chengde. With the increasing population, the immigration from the inside of the pass to the outside of the pass began, and the story of several generations of new and old people breaking into Kanto slowly began. It is also because it has been a no-man's land for hundreds of years, so everything starts from scratch. There are no Han people in Luanping, and there are no others. Later, all the people who reoccupied here were Manchu, close relatives of the royal family. They come from Miyun, Beijing, and the village name of Lianjingoutun was brought from Miyun. They all speak Mandarin of the Qing Dynasty, and they don't cross any dialects.

Let's put it this way, because Luanping people speak the old Mandarin of the Qing Dynasty, but Beijing is not. Beijing is too big, but it is not pure. Beijing dialect also has a southern accent, and Luanping copied the Mandarin of the Qing Dynasty. Although the official language of the Qing Dynasty inherited the factors of the Ming Dynasty, it already belonged to Manchu and Qing Dynasty.

From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, and then to New China, the language was developing, but the pronunciation in Jingoutun Village, Jingoutun Town, Luanping County was relatively closed. At that time, the village was all Manchu, and it is still Manchu now. The original surnames such as Jin and Jiao in the village are still multiplying. Why did language experts choose Jingoutun Town in 1950s? I think it may be a random choice, because three towns were actually chosen at that time. Why not choose other counties in Chengde City for voice collection? This may be because Luanping is between Chengde and Beijing, and it is a closed place near Beijing.

The purest Beijing accent is no longer in Beijing, but in Luanping, many things in the world are strange, but not unfamiliar.
