When did Singaporeans and Malaysians split from China?

These two countries never belonged to China!

There are four ethnic groups in Singapore, most of which are Chinese. Naturally, Chinese is the mother tongue of Chinese. There are also some Malays whose mother tongue is Malay. However, in Singapore, although Chinese make up as many as three quarters, English is still the main language in more official occasions.
