Baozhou in Baozhou (Yizhou)

Baozhou is a border dispute left over from the Liao Dynasty war. Geographical location is located on the east bank of Yalu River. Today, Yizhou City, North Pyongan Province, North Korea.

After 9 16, after the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), Lu Ye Baoji proclaimed himself emperor. It was a war that happened after the rapid rise of Northeast China.

In 926, the war between Liao and Bohai ended in the victory of Liao, accompanied by a large number of Bohai refugees fleeing into the Korean peninsula. The two countries were not in the same language. The relationship between Liao and North Korea began to deteriorate. North Korea only thinks that the Central Plains Dynasty is the enfeoffment king, and also thinks that the rise of Qidan has affected its expansion in the north and constantly supported Bohai immigrants to carry out various anti-Liao activities. When the war broke out in 985 AD, there were three major armed conflicts, and the ceasefire was 10 19, and the border was defined between the middle and upper reaches of Qingchuan and the lower reaches of Yalu River.

The story behind

In 993, 800,000 Khitan troops set out from Liao, crossed the Yalu River and invaded the northwest of Korea. Han Jun and Qidan fought fiercely in pengshan county. The following year, pengshan county was breached. South Korea realized that the war against aggression was expensive, so it asked for peace talks with Qidan, and Qidan accepted the peace talks. The condition is that North Korea agrees to become a vassal state of Liao and pay tribute every year.

Khitan's request caused controversy in Koryo Palace. Some South Korean ministers believe that agreeing to Khitan's request can avoid a larger war. But most of the military commanders who fought with the Khitan opposed it. Just as the South Korean court was debating whether to agree to the request of the Khitan, the Khitan army crossed the Qingchuan River and went straight to Anzhou, the stronghold of the Korean army. The king of South Korea abandoned the king's capital and fled to Jianghua Island. The fierce attack of the Khitan caused great panic in the Korean court. Prime Minister Han pleaded for negotiations with the Khitan, arguing that the Datong River Basin should be ceded to the Liao State to calm the war. However, some war factions believe that Shi Gaoli claimed to be the heir of Koguryo and also had certain inheritance rights to part of Koguryo's land.

Yelulongxu, the sixth emperor of Liao Dynasty, started negotiations with North Korea, severed the suzerain-vassal relationship with the Southern Song Dynasty and paid tribute to Liao. As a result of the negotiations, Liao gave North Korea "hundreds of miles east of Yalu River", and North Korea switched to Liao calendar, nominally breaking diplomatic relations with Song Dynasty, but in fact North Korea never broke diplomatic relations with Song Dynasty.

For the first time in old history, the east bank of the Yalu River was brought under the control of the certificate right of the Korean Peninsula. North Korea tricked Bohai immigrants into crossing the border and devoted all its efforts to establishing six towns in an attempt to alleviate the pressure from Liao countries on North Korea. After Liao discovered that North Korea was treacherous and still secretly engaged in diplomatic exchanges with Song Dynasty, Liao sent troops to North Korea to violate the treaty, demanding that North Korea return six cities east of Yalu River, and built a strategic castle Baozhou (now Yizhou, North Pyongan Province, Korea) on the southeast bank of Yalu River controlled by Liao as a military center to attack and control the Korean Peninsula. Under the threat of the Khitan garrison, King Koryo was afraid that the fleeing Bohai people would be controlled by the Liao State and separated from other countries.

After the Liao Dynasty war lasted for several years, the Liao State has been firmly controlling Baozhou, protecting the remaining people of all ethnic groups in the Bohai Sea and the borders of the Liao State.

However, due to the long-term confrontation with Liao, Song's position in its history is roughly equal to that of North Korea, and it is believed that Liao occupied the land east of the Yalu River in North Korea. Its purpose is to let Koryo, the traditional Han vassal state, harass the Liao country militarily, but Koryo only wants to protect herself, and never dares to cross the border except withdrawing troops from the Liao country and attacking the Liao army at home. Finally, it has existed between the two great powers in a deceptive way for hundreds of years.

After the establishment of the Jin Dynasty, North Korea still lied about its sovereignty to the east of the Yalu River, and defrauded the favor of the Jurchen nobles with the Jurchen and Koguryo families. After repeated negotiations between the two sides, the ruler sealed korean king and gave the land east of Yalu River to North Korea on the condition that North Korea wanted to pay tribute. South Korea finally gained benefits in this territorial negotiation. Although it became a subsidiary regime at that time, it affected the later border between China and North Korea.

Jin Guo still has great territorial differences over Baozhou. Jurchen controlled Changbai Mountain for thousands of years. In South Korea, Changbai Mountain is also the historical source of Koguryo, trying to claim territory.

The territorial differences between China and North Korea were brought to the diplomacy between the Ming Dynasty and North Korea.
