Where is the ancient town of Xituo?

Xituo ancient town is located in Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing, formerly known as Jiexituo, and was called "the western boundary of Bazhou" in ancient times. It is named after the backwater located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, facing Shi Baozhai, the pearl of the Yangtze River. Xituo belongs to Shizhu County and has the reputation of "one foot in three counties".

Xituo has a long history and culture as early as the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Here is "land and water trade, fireworks flourish, just like a swamp city". This is an important deep-water harbor in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and has become an important tourist gateway of Huangshui National Forest Park.

Situated on the Yangtze River at the northwest end of Shizhu County, Xituo Ancient Town faces the Pearl of the Yangtze River, Shi Baozhai. It is an ancient town that has emerged due to the development of ancient commerce. Yunti Street in the ancient town is the starting point of Bayan Ancient Road in Yancheng, Sichuan and the core building complex of Xituo ancient town. Its street is perpendicular to the Yangtze River, which is contrary to the street layout of towns along the Yangtze River, and extends from the bank of the Yangtze River to the top of the mountain along the ridge.

On a sunny day, on the other side of the river, the ladder street is covered with stone layers, and the slate is dazzling, like a ladder, reaching the sky, hence the name "ladder street". Yunti Street is about 1.9 km long, with stone steps 1 13 and stone steps 1 124. On both sides of Yunti Street, there are mainly cultural relics such as Xiayandian, Yu Palace, Yong Cheng Commercial Building, Nanlong Anqiao, Beilong Anqiao, Minting, Wantong Palace, Ziyun Palace, Cheng Nan Temple and Zhangfei Temple.
