How do immigrants acquire Dutch nationality?
I. How to acquire Dutch nationality
There are two main ways to acquire Dutch citizenship:
1, select the program
Choosing a program is the easiest way, so it's worth checking whether you meet the requirements. Applying for citizenship in this way has some advantages over naturalization procedures, such as:
(1) There are few application conditions;
(2) The process is usually faster and takes three months instead of one year;
(3) The cost is cheaper than the naturalization application.
To apply, you must first hold a valid residence certificate. It must belong to one of the following categories:
(1) You have lived in the Netherlands or Dutch territory all your life or most of your time;
(2) You have been married or cohabited with a Dutch citizen for at least three years and have lived in the Netherlands continuously 15 years;
(3) You are over 65 years old and have lived in the Netherlands for at least 15 years;
(4) One of your parents or legal guardians is Dutch, and you have lived in the Netherlands with them for at least three years before applying.
2. Naturalization procedures
If you have a birth or family relationship with the Netherlands, such as you were born in the Netherlands or your parents are Dutch (including adopted and foreign-born children), you can also obtain citizenship if you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Naturalization Bureau.
Or you have the following situation:
(1) must be an adult (18 years old and above).
(2) You have lived in the Netherlands for five consecutive years and have a valid residence permit; Marrying a Dutch national or living with a Dutch national continuously for three years (including abroad); Or you have lived in the Netherlands with a valid residence permit 10 years, at least for two consecutive years.
(3) You have fully integrated into Dutch society and can read, write, speak and understand Dutch. You have to pass the civic integration test to prove this, and you have to pass the A2 level test.
(4) In the past four years, you have not been sentenced to imprisonment, training, community service or a huge fine (more than 865,438+00 euros).
(5) You are prepared to give up your current nationality. If you don't do this, your Dutch citizenship may be revoked (although there are some exceptions to dual citizenship).
(6) You hold a valid permanent residence permit or a valid non-temporary residence permit, such as family reunion.
Second, how to apply for Dutch nationality
The application is made by your local municipal authority, and you must pay the fee in advance. The municipal government will check your details and send your request to the immigration office together with the mayor's suggestion. Then immigration will investigate whether you can become a Dutch citizen.
Required documents:
1, passport;
2. Residence permit;
3. Birth certificate and child's birth certificate (if applicable);
4. Marriage certificate (if applicable);
5. Civil integration certificate or other diploma.
Extended reading: the classification of skilled immigrants in the Netherlands
University graduates (including research universities and applied science universities) with Dutch national recognition can be postponed for one year after graduation. International students can apply for changing the type of residence permit and then make full use of this year to find a job. The new residence permit allows you to find a job as a "high-tech immigrant" or an "ordinary labor immigrant".
During this year, before you find a job that allows you to stay in the Netherlands, although you can't apply for various state benefits, you can make a living by working without applying for a work permit.
After one year, you must find a job as a "senior skilled immigrant" or an "ordinary labor immigrant", otherwise you must return to China. If you can't find a job, you must change the type of residence permit.
I. Advanced skilled immigrants
The pre-tax income of highly skilled immigrants should be at least 25,000 euros, that is, 2,000 euros a month. Once the employer has signed the "Advanced Skilled Migration Agreement" with the Immigration Bureau, there is no need to apply for a work permit for employees. The website of the Immigration Bureau also published a list of all companies that can accept high-tech immigrants. If you want to get a position in a company, organization or institution that is not on the list, your employer only needs to apply to the Immigration Bureau. For details, please refer to the website of the Immigration Bureau. Is such a job hard to find? Large Dutch banks and multinational companies (such as Philips and Shell) have employees in China, and their annual income is more than 25,000 euros.
Second, ordinary labor migration.
Unlike highly skilled immigrants, the Dutch government does not require the wages of ordinary labor immigrants, but it must meet the minimum wage standard stipulated by Dutch law. If you are not a citizen of the EU, EEA or Switzerland, the employer must apply for a work permit for you. In addition, the employer also needs to provide proof that the job cannot be undertaken by suitable Dutch or citizens of other EU countries. As a result, it seems that it is more difficult for ordinary labor immigrants to find jobs than for highly skilled immigrants. Jobs like this are hard to find, and employers need to spend energy to prepare materials for you and explain to the government why they hire a foreigner instead of a local. Unless you can get on well with your employer and persuade him to spend time and energy for you, the chances are very limited. But as far as I know, there are such examples.
As long as you get a work visa, you can enjoy the same basic social welfare as Dutch citizens. You can get a Dutch green card after working for 4-5 years, and then enjoy the same treatment as Dutch citizens.
