In order to support the operation of the United Nations system, the United Nations Volunteers was established in China on 198 1. Under the management of the United Nations Development Programme, it is active in various voluntary activities. Up to now, more than 250 China and international UN volunteers have served in UN projects in China, and nearly 200 China volunteers, as international UN volunteers, have made their own contributions to projects in more than 35 countries, involving poverty alleviation, microeconomics, environmental protection, cultural heritage protection, AIDS prevention and control, immigration and NGO development.
