Different schools have different admission requirements. As English is the common language of instruction, most colleges and universities require students to reach a certain level of English. Generally speaking, there are the following English proficiency certificates:

Certificate of General Secondary Education

(GSCE)

TOEFL

IELTS

(IELTS)

Besides English proficiency requirements, different institutions and courses will have different entrance requirements. Generally speaking, the basic application procedures for government schools, government-aided schools and independent schools are as follows: Step 1: Apply to the schools that enroll. 1

Parents or guardians of students will fill in the complete application form and submit all necessary original documents directly to the selected schools for admission. Step 2 (a): The school organizes the entrance examination and issues a notice. If there are still places in the school, the school will organize the entrance examination for the students who apply. If a student passes the entrance examination, the school accepts his application and issues a notice. The notice will indicate that the school accepts applicants in principle. Applicants apply for a student pass with the admission notice to the Immigration and Checkpoint Bureau (ICA)

(see step 3 for details). Whether a student can be accepted by the school depends on whether the student can obtain a student pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau (ICA) within two weeks after the notice is issued and notify the school. Applicants with family permits or immigration exemption orders do not need to apply for student permits from ICA. Once he/she passes the entrance examination, he/she can enter the school (see step 5 for details).

Step 2 (b): The school sends an entry application letter to ICA

Before organizing the entrance examination, the school should submit an entry application to ICA for applicants whose parents work in Singapore but do not have a family permit. The school will fax the application letter to ICA.

ICA

takes over the entry of the applicant and issues the entry permit. Applicants are allowed to take the school entrance examination (see step 2 (a) for details).

Step 3: The notice of applying to ICA

for a student permit is valid for 2

weeks from the date of issuance. After receiving the notice, the applicant should immediately apply to ICA for a student pass. Applicants should show ICA a formal admission notice signed by the school. Step 4: inform the school that it has obtained a student permit

Within 2 weeks after the issuance of the admission notice,

the applicant must inform the school that it has obtained a valid student permit, otherwise it will not be able to enter the school. Step 5: Donation to the Education Fund

After the applicant successfully enters the school, the Ministry of Education will send a letter asking the applicant to donate to the Education Fund. The donation is paid every two years, and the amount is S $1, each time. For more information, please visit the website

. Private schools, foreign schools, international schools and universities, polytechnics or technical education colleges should follow the following application procedures:

Submit the application and relevant supporting materials directly to the school.

Some institutions will require you to take an interview or an entrance examination. Some schools require students to have some work experience.

The above requirements are usually stated in the school's course description, brochure or website.
