Are there still Miao people in America now?

At present, there are nearly 200,000 Miao people in the United States. They still speak their own language and most people live together. As we all know, Miao is one of the ethnic minorities in China. So, how did these Miao people get to America? What changes have taken place in its life and cultural tradition?

Miao people have migrated since ancient times, and every migration is related to war. Our Miao ancestors once lived in the Yellow River area of China, but later, due to the war, they started their first and largest migration, crossed the rolling Yellow River and settled around Dongting Lake in Hubei and Hunan, becoming one of the main nationalities in Chu. Later, due to the continuous war, the Miao people were forced to move westward on a large scale and came to Xiangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places in Hunan, which basically formed the current situation. About this large-scale westward migration, thousands of national epics of "westward migration along the river" appeared.

The migration is not over yet. In the long years, the Miao people are still suffering from wars and natural disasters. About 200 years ago, they finally went abroad and went deep into the mountainous areas of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and other countries, with hundreds of thousands of people. This can be regarded as the third great migration of Miao people. However, only a small part of the Miao people migrated this time, and most of them stayed in the southwest of China.
