Brief Introduction of Xinkai Town in Huangmei County

Xinkai Town is located in the southwest of Huangmei County, Hubei Province, about 40 kilometers away from the urban area of Huangmei County and about 26 kilometers away from Longgang Lake Management Zone in Huanggang City. The town is near the Yangtze River, located in the middle section of Huangguang levee of the Yangtze River, about 37 kilometers west of Wuxue City along the Yangtze River levee, and 24 kilometers east of Xiaochi Town, a provincial economic development zone in Hubei Province. It is connected with Jiujiang City of Jiangxi Province through the Yangtze River Bridge and is known as the East Gate of Hubei Province. It faces Jiujiang City and Ruichang City of Jiangxi Province across the river in the south, and is a six townships at the junction of Hubei, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces. The old name of this town is New Opening. According to legend, Hongren, the fifth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, never spoke until he was eight years old. He first spoke here, and was later accepted by the fourth ancestor as a disciple, thus gaining enlightenment. Therefore, it was officially named "New Opening".

The land in this town is built from the Yangtze River, so the land in the territory is flat, with many ditches and lakes, with a total area of 73.97 square kilometers, a population of 63,800, and cultivated land of 5 1 10,000 mu. It has jurisdiction over Xinkai, Waizhou, Ferry, Xiazhouwei, Baishazhou, Caijiadu, yangsi Temple, Bianzhou, Xihetou, Zhou Wang Lake, Yuanli, Mudstone Head, Tuanpo, Shangwufang, Guo Wang, Huang Zhefu, Shoudan Lie, Laid-off Li, Xin Lie and Huangfu Lie.
