Why Guangxi Guiliu dialect is actually Sichuan dialect?
Ancient migration In ancient times, due to natural disasters and wars, population migration was very common. In the Ming Dynasty, the central government will station troops in the southwest minority areas. At that time, soldiers came from all over the country. For communication, they spoke Mandarin of the Ming Dynasty at that time. Over time, local accents have merged into a new Mandarin dialect. This is not only the case in Guilin, but also in Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan.
We can see that these places are 108,000 miles apart, but their accents are not much different. In fact, the so-called Sichuan dialect in Guilin is only distributed around the urban area, and many rural accents are still very different from those in the urban area. Because at that time, downtown Guilin was a concentrated place for immigrants.
Besides, Sichuan Sichuanese was also a dialect formed by immigrants who spoke Mandarin in unison at that time, but Sichuan immigrants did not have troops. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, there was a terrible mutiny in Sichuan, and the population was greatly reduced, so a large number of farmers near Hunan and Hubei moved to Sichuan.
The dialect in Nanguan dialect area of Sichuan dialect is basically born out of the Ming Dynasty Mandarin, so whether it is Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan or Guilin, the shadow of the Ming Dynasty Mandarin can be found in the local dialects. This is an important reason why these dialects are so similar, because they are separated by thousands of waters in Qian Shan.
You know, although Sichuan Province is located at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, it belongs to the southern region. But Sichuan dialect is not a southern dialect, but a northern dialect.
Northern dialects are different from southern dialects, and basically all northern dialects have something in common.
Historically, the Sichuan dialect now heard was first formed in the Southern Song Dynasty. At that time, a large number of young people in Sichuan sacrificed themselves to resist the invasion of Mongols, which laid the groundwork for large-scale immigration later. In the Yuan Dynasty, the rulers at that time ordered the population of more than a dozen neighboring provinces, such as Hubei, Hunan and Guangxi, to be moved to Sichuan, and the population of the north and south brought by this great migration was amazing.
Sichuan dialect is finally formed by the combination of north and south dialects. Sichuan dialect is actually a general concept, which can be divided into two parts if it is to be subdivided. First of all, Chengdu-Chongqing dialect based on Huguang dialect is the most popular, and the other is Lu Nan dialect distributed in southwest Sichuan. However, because there are many local mountains, this dialect did not spread in the end.
Guangxi Dialect Guangxi Guiliu Dialect is the origin of the official dialect in Guiliu area. Guiliu Mandarin belongs to the northern dialect in language classification, is one of the southwest sub-dialects of the northern dialect, and is one of the most powerful Chinese dialects in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Although the dialect/language in Guangxi is quite complicated, in short, it is nothing more than the fact that the Chinese dialect of Guiliu and Cantonese are divided into north and south, and Hakka and Pinghua are occasionally used.
The reason why Guangxi people master many dialects is that there are a large number of dialect islands in Guangxi, and the most typical and largest dialect island is Nanning. Cantonese is popular in Nanning, Pinghua is popular in suburbs, and Zhuang language is popular in rural areas.
Before the city was built, Nanning was dominated by dialects. After the Song Dynasty, a large number of military immigrants from Di Qing made Pinghua the authoritative language of Nanning.
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Guilin was the political center of Guangxi, and a large number of Guiliu dialect officials were sent to Nanning for politics. Mandarin has gradually become the mainstream language, and Pinghua has been pushed out to the suburbs by Mandarin. During this period, the popularity of Putonghua was influenced by political immigrants.
In the late Qing Dynasty, Guangdong businessmen moved westward to Nanning. With their economic advantages and developed business acumen, Guangdong businessmen control the economic lifeline of Nanning, and other groups with different dialects need to learn Cantonese, which gradually replaces Mandarin as a strong language.
During the Republic of China, a large number of Cantonese people moved to Guangxi, and Cantonese established a dominant position in Nanning. Under the influence of economic immigrants from Guangdong businessmen, Mandarin, which was originally popular in Nanning, came to a tragic end and was compressed into one or two streets by Cantonese, and finally Nanning disappeared. Nanning has become a vernacular world.
