Cining Palace, located in the Forbidden City in Beijing, No.4 Jingshan Front Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, is the main palace where the former Empress Dowager lived in the Qing Dynasty. It was built in the fifteenth year of Ming Jiajing. There is an east-west narrow square in front of Cining Palace, with Yongkang Left Gate and Yongkang Right Gate at both ends, and Changxin Gate in the south. Cining Gate is located on the north side of the square, and the main hall is connected with Cining Palace by a high platform tunnel. In the front yard, there is a door between things, the left door of Yin Hui in the east and the right door of Yin Hui in the west. The main hall, Cining Palace, is in the center, with front and back cloisters, and yellow glazed tiles resting on the top of the mountain. There are 7 rooms with a wide surface, of which 5 rooms each have 4 double cross and 40-shaped diamond doors, with brick walls at both ends and 4 double cross and 40-shaped diamond fans. architectural feature
The buildings of the Forbidden City, such as Cining Palace, gradually formed their present appearance after continuous renovation and repair in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The name of the main palace and the location of the courtyard have not changed much, and they are all subordinate buildings of the Forbidden City. The reason is not unrelated to the identity of the queen mother and the toffee who live here. The overall layout of each palace is flexible, forming a situation in which Cining Palace is the main one and the rest of the palaces are built accordingly. We can understand from the relationship between the central axes of this group of buildings.
The central axis of Cining Palace passes through Cining Gate, Changxin Gate and Nantianmen from south to north. Go north through the Great Buddha Hall and enter the back of the palace, with a total length of nearly 300 meters. In terms of length, it is not short. However, it does not run through the central axis of all palaces. The central axes of Shou Kang Palace and Cining Garden are in the west, while those of Shou 'an Palace and Huaying Hall are in the northwest. Every central axis is uneven. A major feature of this group building layout is that it does not win by law, but by flexibility.
