In Dashan, Guizhou, I met a girl who wanted to turn the "empty village" into a tourist attraction. Let's go see it with Mango

Mango Travel Diary: In the mountains of Guizhou, I met a girl who wanted to turn the "deserted village" into a tourist attraction. Follow Mango to see it.

On the way from Guiyang to Xiaoqikong, Libo, we received an invitation from a friend and temporarily changed our route to Shilei Ancient Village, a Buyi village located in Jialiang Town, Libo County.

I thought we would arrive at Shilei Ancient Village before dark. Unexpectedly, the navigation error led us to the most difficult mountain road. We arrived at 11 o'clock in the evening. We were greeted by a beautiful woman, Gao. Tall and thin, with long hair. She said that Shi Lei has not yet been developed, so there are no hotels or inns in the village. She asked us to stay at her friend's house. It was late at night, and we took a quick shower and then rested.

I was woken up by the sound of the rushing river in the morning. When I looked outside, I realized that we lived next to the "waterfall". Because it had just rained, the river swelled and made a huge roar. There is a mountain on the other side of the river, with houses built on top of each other. The smoke from the kitchens is curling up after the rain, and it looks very fairy-like. There is a bridge across the two banks. When I was about to cross the bridge and go to the other side to have a look, the beauty from last night came to us for breakfast. . The beauty’s name is Xiao Di and she is a local. She said that Shi Lei is a Buyi village that dates back more than 600 years. The other side of the river is the old village and this side is the new village.

Her house is on a hillside. It is also an old house with two floors and a wooden house. Standing in front of the house, you can see the village on the other side, with green vegetation and turbid river water, giving you a sense of freshness after the rain.

After breakfast, I strolled around Laozhai. Just after crossing the bridge, I saw a big sign that read: Zhelu, a traditional Chinese village. Zhelu is a Buyi language, and outsiders generally call it Shilei Ancient Village, which means a village built with stones, because all the houses here are built with stone foundations. There is a large square below, which is a place for villagers' activities. Whenever there is a festival, people will gather here to sing and dance.

The above is the village, which is built against the mountain. The stone roads go up layer by layer, leading to each household. The houses are two-story buildings with stilts. Different from the stilted buildings in Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang, the lower floors here are Half of it is made of stone, and the upper part is a wooden house. The same thing is that people live on the second floor and livestock are kept on the first floor.

Walking on the mossy stone road gives you the feeling of walking into history. Xiao Di said that many people have moved away from the old village, some have built new houses in the new village across the street, and some have moved to the county town. There are only a few families left here, making it almost an "empty village." From the outside, many houses are not damaged except for the mottled appearance of time. Why leave? Maybe this old-fashioned building is no longer suitable for modern people's living needs.

Walking through the deserted villages, there is a desolate and eerie feeling, even though the sun is shining, there is still a gloomy atmosphere. Walking into an empty room, it was empty. Only the fire pit in the middle and the dustpan in the corner still had the smell of human habitation.

Going further up, you come to a house with ivy hanging on the exterior wall. The stones are taller than a person. Just looking at the appearance, does it look like many modern B&Bs? But this is also an empty house. Except for the green plants all over the wall, there is no breath of life anymore.

Walking up the green steps, I saw several workers who seemed to be moving and lifting. Xiao Di said that they were repairing the old house. Because the old houses here are relatively well-preserved and have a long history among the Buyi people, they have been selected into the list of traditional Chinese villages. Xiao Di said that in order for the old houses to be better maintained and the weaving, batik, handicrafts, etc. to be spread, she wrote a planning document, attracted some investment, and acquired the uninhabited old houses, hoping to build It has become a village with folk customs, allowing people to better understand the Buyi people.

To be honest, I admire this girl very much. She has the courage and perseverance to do big things, is independent and confident, dares to think and do, and can endure hardships. She said that she founded Libo Tourism with her classmates when she was in college. The website is operating very well. Many people and companies, including the Libo government, have offered high prices to buy this website, but they refused and insisted on running it themselves. Now I have started to "fiddle with" ancient buildings and intangible cultural heritage again. Although I don't know much about it and can't give more help, I hope that next time I go to Shi Lei, I can see a brand new ancient Buyi village that surprised me.
