The US Embassy has five visa offices in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenyang.
For non-immigrant visas, the visa location is determined by the place of residence:
Living in Beijing, Tianjin, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan or Jiangxi-Beijing, the visa office of the US Embassy.
Live in Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet or Chongqing-US Consulate General in Chengdu
Live in Liaoning, Jilin or Heilongjiang-US Consulate General in Shenyang
Living in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu or Anhui-US Consulate General in Shanghai
Live in Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan or Guangxi-US Consulate General in Guangzhou
Note: Place of residence refers to the place of residence in the last six months. For example, your family is in Guangdong, but you have been working in Beijing for the last six months. You should apply for a visa in Beijing.
