Their family immigrated to Norway, where they received school education. Although Zan is very reluctant to leave Lebanon, he is also very excited about his new home in Norway. Extended data:
The theme of How to Go Home focuses on the miserable life of refugee children in the Middle East. In the film, Zan, a boy of 12 years old, is full of worries in his eyes, but full of longing for the future. He always wants to escape and go to other countries, but the reality keeps tearing up his dreams.
He is not tall and lives in a slum in Lebanon with his family. His father doesn't allow him to go to school, but only allows him to work in a small grocery store. Sometimes he goes out with his sister Saha to sell juice to help his family. But in order to offset the rising rent, his parents gave his sister Saha to the landlord. He tried to stop it, but his mother knocked him over. He left home in anger and began to wander.
Zan was taken in by Rachiele, a kind-hearted black woman worker, but Rachiele had no legal status in Lebanon. He was detained by the police when he went out to raise money and never came back, so Zan took Junas, a child from Rachiele, to make a living on the street alone.
But the cruel fate only opened the corner. Sister Saha was pregnant at a young age and died before she got to the hospital. Zan despaired again and again and filed her most painful complaint with the TV station and the court.
The filming of How to Go Home lasted for five years, and Zan Al-Lafia, the little boy starring in the film, was originally a refugee child who fled from Syria to Lebanon. Director Nadine Labaki found him in the street. At that time, he didn't go to school and couldn't even write his own name, but his simple feeling made the director think he was the most suitable candidate, so he was asked to play How to Be Home.
