Wangdingdi is located in the southwest of Nankai District, originally belonging to Xiqing District, and 1984 is included in Nankai District. There is a small river to the west of Balitai (now the original trace of Fukang River), and there is a highland on the south bank of Hexi section, commonly known as' Little Di Zi'. During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, an immigrant named Wang settled on a small river bank and collected firewood for a living. After his death, his family followed the instructions and buried him on the embankment, hence the names "Wang Di", "Wang Liandi" and "Wang Dingdi". Later, Li, Xu, Fang, Chen, Zhang and other surnames came here one after another to settle down and reclaim land to form villages, so the village was named after the dike. "
