Liu Bocheng was born in the Liu Family Courtyard of Zhangjiaba, Zhoudu Village, Zhaojia Town, Kaixian County, Chongqing City.

According to the "Liu Family Tree" on display at the former residence, the ancestral home of the Liu family was originally in Jiangling County, Jingzhou Prefecture, Hubei Province. Later, following the immigration wave of "Huguang filled Sichuan" in the early Qing Dynasty, they moved to Yunyang, Chongqing City. When Liu Bocheng was 5 years old, he separated from his father's family and moved to Shenjiawan, a back slope more than 100 meters away from his old house. Liu Bocheng lived here for 14 years until he left home and joined the army in 1911 to join the Revolution of 1911.
