What religion does America believe in?
America is the country with the most complicated religion in the world. Some people believe in any religion, while others don't. A long time ago, many people who left their homes not far from Wan Li and came to America were trying to get rid of their domestic religions. They are full of hope and want to be free in a new land. This initial wish gradually formed a preference for religion.
About their religious activities
Among all developed countries, the religious atmosphere in the United States is the strongest. According to Gallup survey in 2004, about 4 1% of Americans attend religious activities at least once a week (this ratio is several times higher than that of some developed countries: 15% in France, 7% in Britain and 25% in Israel).
However, the national distribution varies greatly. For example, in the southern and central and western regions known as the Bible Belt, people participate in religious activities more, but less in the developed areas in the northeast and west coast.
Among the southern states, Baptist Church is the largest sect, followed by Methodist Church. In large areas in the northeast and midwest, Catholicism is dominant, because many local people are descendants of immigrants from European Catholic areas (such as Germany, Ireland, Italy and Poland) or immigrants from other parts of North America (such as Quebec and Puerto Rico).
Christians in most other parts of the United States are a mixture of various sects. Although most American Christians believe in Protestantism, the Catholic Church has the largest number of members, because Protestants often belong to different sects.
Angus Reid's world poll shows that, on the whole, the number of religious believers in the United States has decreased sharply for more than a decade. In the survey of 1992, 83% people claimed to believe in Christianity, but in 2006, it was found that the number of people who adhered to Christian faith dropped to 63%.
