Township dialect in Jinxiang

There are mainly three dialects in the town: Manchu, Jinxiang (Wu) and Minnan (Min), as well as dialects from Sichuan and Shandong.

The official dialect of Wenzhou is Ou dialect. Due to the influence of geographical location, Jinxiang dialect is rarely infiltrated by Ou dialect.

Before Jinxiang Jianwei, there were many discussions. After Jianwei, people who moved to northern Zhejiang and southern Jiangsu spoke Wu. After the integration of various Wu dialects and the influence of barbarians, the original Jinxiang dialect was formed. In Qing Dynasty, a large number of Minnan immigrants came to Wenzhou, mainly settled in Cangnan mountain area, and they brought Minnan dialect. Today, the three dialects in Jinxiang are independent of each other and influence each other. Jinxiang dialect (only in the urban area, but it can basically communicate with southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang) is in the suburbs of the old city (only in Cangnan coastal area, see Manchu encyclopedia), and Minnan dialect in Huli (only in Cangnan coastal area, see Manchu encyclopedia) is in Yanting Manchu dialect (only in Cangnan coastal area, see Manchu encyclopedia for details). There are a few other dialects in Dayu Minnan dialect (which flows through the vast Cangnan mountainous area, southern Fujian and Taiwan Province province) and Shi Peng Minnan dialect (which flows through the vast Cangnan mountainous area, southern Fujian and Taiwan Province province), as well as Lu dialect and Sichuan dialect in different degrees.
