Application procedure
If you want to submit an application for I- 130 in this office, you need to make an appointment in advance. You can make an appointment with us through our contact information (telephone, email or fax). Please note that the Beijing office does not accept mail applications.
Only the applicant must submit the application in person. Although the presence of the beneficiary will help to provide more information when necessary, it is not necessary.
The application fee for submitting I- 130 is $420. You can pay in US dollars, RMB or credit card. Please note that we don't accept checks (personal checks, traveler's checks, certified checks, etc.). ) and money orders.

In addition to the documents required in I- 130 application instructions, Beijing Office also requires you to bring the following documents to submit your application:
If you get married in China, please bring the marriage certificate and the original one.
Original passport of the applicant and beneficiary, and a copy of the passport personal data page.
If the beneficiary does not have a passport, please bring the original and notarized birth certificate.
Please pay attention to the applicant's residence certificate in China:
We need you to provide a residence permit for foreigners in China. No matter what kind of Chinese visa you hold, you must first apply for a foreigner's residence permit in China to prove your right of abode in China, and then you can directly submit the I- 130 application at the Beijing Office of the US Immigration Service.
American citizens whose main residence is not in China, or those who just come to China for business or tourism temporarily, please send your application to I- 130 to Chicago Lock Box. For example, temporary travelers with "L" tourist visas usually cannot apply directly at the Beijing office.
In addition to submitting the above documents, please make sure to fill in all the options in the I- 130 application form, and the applicant (non-beneficiary) signs the name and date on item E in the I- 130 form, so that we can accept your application more efficiently.

Q: How long will it take to process the I- 130 application?
A: It takes 30 to 60 days for the Beijing office to accept the I- 130 application. During this period, you will receive: (a) the final decision; Or (b) requirements for supplementary materials (if more materials are needed).
Q: How can I be notified about my case?
A: The notice will be sent to the address in China on your I- 130 application form. Therefore, it is very important to fill in your China address in neat Chinese characters in Item 20 of Part C of I- 130 Application Form.
Q: What should I do if I haven't heard from my case for more than 60 days?
A: If your case has not been answered for more than 60 days, you can contact us by email in DHSBeijing-CIS@dhs.gov. If your case is less than 60 days, please don't ask us about the progress. Your cooperation will help us to ensure that all applications are processed in an efficient and timely manner.
Q: What shall we do after the Beijing office approves our application?
After your I- 130 application is approved, the Beijing Office will hand over your case to the the State Council Immigration Visa Department for processing. The Immigration Visa Department will contact your relatives directly and arrange an interview. If you still have problems after your application is approved by our office, please contact them through the State Council's visa website or telephone number 400-616-121(China) or 703-665- 1986 (USA). Please note that after your case is approved by our office, we cannot provide any information about your case.

Q: I applied for I- 130 in Beijing office. Do I need to submit information about my residence, financial guarantee or medical report?
A: No. When Beijing Office accepts I- 130 application, you don't need to provide information such as residence, financial guarantee, physical examination, etc. However, the State Council will ask you to provide this information when deciding whether your relatives are eligible for immigration. A: Unfortunately, you can't. We only have the information of I- 130 application submitted directly by Beijing office.
