Male International Airport is the only international airport in the Maldives. Airport Island, 2 kilometers northeast of Male Island, is the gateway to the Maldives. Male International Airport (MLE) in the Maldives is the main international airport. Hulhur Airport was named after its location on Hulhur Island in the North Male Atoll.
