The following is my survey of studying abroad in 2009, for your reference.
Affected by the once-in-a-century financial crisis, the exchange rates of many currencies, including the US dollar, the Australian dollar and the euro, weakened, and the RMB became more and more "valuable". For studying abroad, the most direct benefit of the financial crisis is that the cost of studying abroad has decreased and the opportunities for studying abroad have increased. The expansion of international students in foreign universities and the encouragement policies introduced by various countries to attract China students have further stimulated the popularity of the study abroad market. The peak of studying abroad in 2009 is coming, and the number of international students in China will further expand, so the demand for information about studying abroad is more urgent.
Investigation on China's Study Abroad Market in 2009
According to the survey, 80% prospective international students obtain information about studying abroad from overseas institutions or media such as the Internet and television. This information is often one-sided, scattered, and even some information is data from a few years ago, which has no reference value. The relevant data involved in this list mainly come from the following channels:
1. distributed 12000 questionnaires (including 8000 paper questionnaires) to more than ten domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Xiamen, Jinan and Qingdao, as well as foreign cities with more students studying in China. 4000 electronic questionnaires), and finally 734 1 questionnaire was recovered, including 6 120 questionnaires in China and 122 1 questionnaire abroad.
2. Conduct three online surveys and * * * recover 2364 online questionnaires.
3. Conducted 365 telephone surveys on study abroad agents.
The survey involves college students, middle school students and their parents, consultants of study abroad institutions, international students, returned overseas students and other groups closely related to study abroad, with strong pertinence and comprehensive content.
It is more cost-effective to study abroad now.

The management major represented by MBA and EMBA is called "the cradle of business leaders". Compared with the average salary before and after studying abroad, the salary return of its graduates is higher than that of other postgraduate majors, so it has always been a popular major in studying abroad. The emerging specialties such as hotel management and tourism management are showing a good development momentum with the constantly changing needs of China and the needs of international communication. Therefore, management majors have emerged new growth points on the basis of maintaining their traditional advantages.
With the increasing demand for artistic talents in the domestic job market, some design industries, such as multimedia art design and advertising design, have begun to emerge. The demand for art and design talents in the domestic market is rising steadily, and the value of professional talents is also rising. In addition, with the gradual integration of the domestic cultural and artistic market with the international market, some emerging industries, such as art brokers, such as cultural brokers and film and television performance brokers, have quite broad development space. All these factors have led to the art major becoming a dark horse in the study abroad market, occupying the second position of popular major with the proportion of 14.4% in the questionnaire.

Investigation on the Intention of International Students in China in 2009
Studying abroad is for better employment. With the rapid economic development in China, more and more international students choose to return to China for employment after graduation. With the rapid expansion of returnees, the gold content of foreign diplomas seems to be shrinking day by day. Enterprises are more concerned about whether the majors of studying abroad match and how the comprehensive quality of the returned overseas students is. Therefore, whether the choice of studying abroad is appropriate is related to the employment prospects of international students and whether the huge investment in studying abroad can have a satisfactory return.
In 2008, the domestic study abroad industry was surging, and the army of studying abroad was further expanded. A few days ago, Kai Tak Education Group, the flagship institution of studying abroad in China, released the first "Investigation Report on China Students' Intention to Study Abroad in 2009". According to the survey report of more than 5,000 students and their parents in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Xiamen, Jinan, Qingdao and other provinces and cities nationwide 10, in 2009, more than 80% of undergraduates and senior high school students obtained information about studying abroad through the Internet. In contrast, most parents choose newspapers or relatives and friends to introduce them.
This survey report was published by the Institute of International Education of Kai Tak Education Group. It lasted for 3 months (2008 10- 12). * * * 6500 questionnaires were distributed to students and parents, and 5232 valid questionnaires were finally recovered, including more than 800 in Beijing and more than 300 in Guangzhou/KLOC-0. The students or parents who fill in the questionnaire are all from the Kai Tak Study Abroad Exhibition and have obvious tendency to study abroad. Kai Tak Education Group believes that the survey data can reflect the trend of China students studying abroad in 2009. Moreover, with the decline of exchange rates and the appreciation of RMB, 2009 will usher in the peak of studying abroad, which is exactly what the study abroad industry expects.
The United States has become the first choice for China students to study abroad.
According to the survey of more than 5,000 students and their parents in 10 cities across the country, China's favorite countries for studying abroad are the United States, Australia, Britain, Canada, France, Singapore, Germany, the Netherlands and South Korea. The proportion of "top three" is: 32% in the United States, 29% in Australia and New Zealand, and 20% in the United Kingdom.
The United States has become the first choice for China students to study abroad.
Statistics show that college and middle school students in different cities have different intentions to study abroad. Australia is still the most popular country for Guangzhou students in South China, with 29. 1% of Guangzhou students choosing Australia as their first choice for studying abroad, and students from Shenzhen, Beijing, Changsha and other cities choosing the United States as their first choice for studying abroad. In South China, the number of people who choose to study in the United States has greatly increased, from 265,438+0% at the beginning of the year to 26.6%. With the relaxation of the work visa policy, Canada, which belongs to North America, is attracting more and more students from the Pearl River Delta. 1 1.2% students plan to study in Canada, an increase of two percentage points over the beginning of 2008.
Singapore, South Korea, Japan and other countries in Asia, as well as Hongkong in China, are also favored by more working families because of their low tuition and high-quality education. Among them, the number of students applying to South Korea and Hong Kong grew the fastest in 2008, increasing by about 20%. German, Dutch and Nordic countries in Europe are also getting more and more attention from China students, and the number of applicants is on the rise.
Australia is the first choice for Guangzhou students to study abroad.
When asked what factors will be taken into consideration when choosing a country to study abroad, 39% of the students prefer the quality of education, followed by the cultural atmosphere (2 1%), 15% of the students are concerned about the cost of studying abroad, and language and immigration are also the factors that students or parents consider more.
When choosing a country to study abroad, the quality of education should be considered first.
Undergraduate and senior high school students are the main force to study abroad.
Judging from the education level of students who plan to study abroad, undergraduates account for 57%, followed by high school students 22%, graduate students 6%, and junior college students 7% also plan to study abroad.
According to the analysis of Kai Tak Education Group, the students or parents who fill in the questionnaire have a clear intention to study abroad. Among them, 34% plan to go abroad within one year, 33% plan to go abroad within two years and 12% plan to study abroad within six months. And the survey is from 10 to10 in 2008, that is, the proportion of students who plan to study abroad in 2009 is nearly 50%. It can be predicted that 2009 will usher in another peak of studying abroad.
Undergraduate and senior high school students are the main force to study abroad.
2009 ushered in the peak of studying abroad.
In terms of "application for academic qualifications for studying abroad", a further survey of more than 5,000 students shows that more than half (55%) of China students plan to apply for undergraduate courses. According to the analysis of Kai Tak Education Group, in 2008, the number of domestic high school students applying for overseas undergraduate majors increased significantly, about 20%. Even for students who have already studied in domestic universities, more and more people will apply for transferring credits to foreign universities to study undergraduate majors because of the complex of going abroad to study in prestigious universities or considering the future prospects or the need to change majors. Statistics show that
The number of students studying abroad in senior high school has increased rapidly, accounting for about 22%, and 10% students plan to go to graduate school. 65,438+00% students plan to apply for TAFE, American Community College or Canadian College of Arts and Sciences. "Choose to read TAFE in Australia or the College of Arts and Sciences in Canada. If you enter the undergraduate course, you can stay in the local employment. " According to the analysis of experts studying abroad in Kai Tak Education.
More than half of China students plan to apply for overseas undergraduate study.
International students consider employment prospects.
It is easier to apply for studying abroad in science and engineering.
When asked about "what factors will be considered when choosing a school", "professional ranking" and "employment prospects" become the priority factors for prospective international students before studying abroad, accounting for 365, 438+0% and 30% respectively. "School awareness" is also the first consideration for many students before studying abroad, accounting for about 24%, while the students who first consider the cost account for 13%. Some students will ask if there are any familiar relatives and friends in the area where overseas schools are located when studying abroad. This shows that students' choice of studying abroad is becoming more and more rational, and the internal relationship between studying abroad and employment can be fully considered.
But when asked about "courses for studying abroad", business is still the major that most students plan to study abroad, such as accounting, marketing, business management and so on. About 27% students choose business, among which those who plan to study in Britain, Australia or France choose business, and those who plan to study in Britain are expected to account for about 70%. The number of people who plan to study abroad and choose engineering, liberal arts and science is equivalent, 7.8%, 7.4% and 7% respectively. Among them, more than 20% students who choose to study in the United States or South Korea and Singapore in Asia plan to choose science and engineering courses. The number of people who plan to study art courses is about 4.2%, which is slightly higher than that in 2008.
According to the analysis of Kai Tak Education Group, in 2009, the business degrees of famous foreign universities, such as the University of Melbourne in Australia and the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, were all in short supply. Relatively speaking, there are still vacancies in science and engineering degrees, and the application threshold (such as applying for scholarships) is lower than that of business. It is suggested that students should consider more science and engineering colleges or majors when studying abroad in 2009.
Factors to be considered when choosing foreign schools
Parents prefer to get information about studying abroad through newspapers or introductions from relatives and friends.
"How did you get the information about studying abroad?" From the statistical results, the network is becoming the main channel for college and middle school students to obtain or consult information about studying abroad. According to a statistic, 80% of college students choose "websites" and "search engines", and a considerable number of students, about 9%, learn about studying abroad information or services from campus posters, leaflets, lectures and other channels.
The decision-making power of college and middle school students whether to study abroad mostly lies with their parents. In addition, the introduction of relatives and friends and the introduction of institutions studying abroad are also the main ways for students and parents to obtain information or choose study abroad services, accounting for 13% and 1 1% respectively. Compared with the introduction of overseas study service agencies, people trust the introduction of school teachers, classmates, family members or friends.
