Why is Paris no longer like Paris?

This time, I will try to describe the changes that have taken place since1the early 1980s, when President Mitterrand, a true lover of Paris, liked to walk in the streets on the left bank. He is the last president who feels like the mayor of Paris, and intends to leave his mark through the monument of innovation. These historical sites not only changed the landscape, but also triggered the process of middle class. Once shanty towns suddenly became popular, attracting real estate developers and high-end residents. Give two examples:

The Bastille Opera House is a strange-looking building, and the best contrast is an oversized public toilet (! It's in the center of the old city. Really solved the problems faced by the traditional Paris Opera House in the19th century: limited scale, no rehearsal space and no heavy decoration.

It really rebalances the balance between the east and the west in Paris: Old Male has become a gay area in the capital, and the "Saint Martin Canal" has become a bourgeois-bohemian residence ... all these areas have bars, cafes and small antique shops. A good place for walking and shopping.

Mitterrand library is also a semi-failure in architecture. It began in the life of the president and ended after his death, symbolizing his lifelong enthusiasm for books. There are four spectacular buildings here, which look like open books. Apart from the fact that real books are stored in steel and glass buildings and need 24-hour protection, readers don't like to browse underground ... not to mention being close to the Seine River, which affects the underground parking lot!

But the whole area used to be hangars and sheds, but now it has been redeveloped and turned into a place where nerds live, and computer start-ups are booming in the modern environment.

What about now? The development of Paris is no longer a plan, but has already happened! Dirty and unsafe prevail! Visitors to Paris for the first time will be surprised to find that the city is becoming an open-air dormitory for refugees and homeless people. These people live in the street, many places have no toilets and washroom facilities, and beggars are protected by anesthetized dogs. ...

From time to time, the police appear to drive away street vendors or unauthorized campers, who just move a few blocks away. More and more areas are "Islamized" and many women feel unsafe there. Public opinion opposes the lassefaire policy against illegal immigrants, but it does not support the large-scale expulsion of those deprived of political refugee status, nor does it support the use of Orban-style barbed wire walls to protect the border. The authorities in charge of cities and countries just blame each other and try to ignore this problem.

Public transport is deteriorating. Paris is lucky, with dense subway lines, bus lines and express trains to the suburbs. Those who use these tools every day will complain. More and more frequently. Because public investment is concentrated on intercity express trains, trains bound for suburbs often break down. These failures occur on trains that are stopped because of bomb panic or employee strike protests. Of course, pickpockets and sexual molesters will not stop the train, they will only increase the danger of the journey.

The city has declared war on the use of private cars. It all started with the lanes reserved for buses and taxis on the main road. In principle, no one will object to traffic jams caused by private cars, and public transport should enjoy the privilege of street space, which is legal. Except those reserved lanes are much wider than needed! This is basically equivalent to bringing unnecessary trouble to private car drivers.

Later, an avid environmental politician, Dennis Pan Bo, took over the traffic management of the Paris City Council. The man publicly declared: I want to make the car driver suffer! He introduced two inventions: the small street can only be entered from the middle, so it is useless for crossing the road. The road is a one-way street, but cars must drive alternately on the left and right sides of the road! There is no better way to slow down their actions! When more than/kloc-0.5 women accused Pan Bo of rape and/or indecency, he had to quit politics ... but his innovation was not reversed.
