China's population demarcation line? (From where to where)

The population dividing line of China map is Heihe-Tengchong line.

The Aihui-Tengchong Line, or Hu Huanyong Line (English), is an imaginary straight line running through China. Hu Huanyong (190 1 ~ 1998) proposed in 1935 to divide the population density of China. This line extends from Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province (formerly known as Aihui), which borders on the northeast of China, to Tengchong County, Yunnan Province, which borders on the southwest of China, roughly dividing the regional distribution of China population, reflecting the disparity in the distribution areas of China population in the southeast and northwest.

Aihui-Tengchong Line plays an important role in China's population geography, and is of great significance in geography (especially population geography and human geography) and demography. It is a special line and watershed in the historical and geographical development of China.

Later 1984, China changed this line to Ruili. This line is so important in population geography and historical geography. Later, people named it "Hu Huanyong Line" according to its experiments.

Seventy-two years later, this invisible line still dominates the geographical distribution of the population in the east and west of China. Compared with 72 years ago, the population of some areas in the west has increased, but the pattern of less east and more west has not changed much.

Extended data

Southeast China is narrow and densely populated, while northwest China is vast and sparsely populated. Through analysis and comparison, this paper finds a clear dividing line that can show the population disparity between the two sides, that is, a straight line from Aihui (now Heihe) in Heilongjiang Province to Tengchong in Yunnan Province.

In the southeast of this line, 36% of the country supports 96% of the population. On the contrary, in the northwest of this line, 64% of the country has only 4% of the population. That is to say, compared with the national average density, the southeast is 2.67 times higher, while the northwest is only116. Among them, the average population density is 42.6 and 1.

Obviously, the Aihui-Tengchong line occupies an important position in China's population geography, which has been recognized and cited by demographers at home and abroad, and is called "Hu Huanyong Line" by Professor Tian Xinyuan of Ohio State University.
