Historical evolution of Heilongguan Town

Heilongguan has a long history. As early as the 21st year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 497), Heilongguan was the seat of Shicheng County. It coexisted with Pingchang County, which was established in the ancient county village of Pu County. The original Puzi County was divided into two counties: Shicheng and Pingchang. In the first year of the Elephant Period of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (AD 579), Shicheng County was renamed Puzi County. In the first year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (AD 581), the Puzi County seat was moved from Heilongguan, and the city was abandoned. Heilongguan has been the county seat for 84 years and has a history of 1,500 years ago.

Heilongguan was called Zhangcuncha in ancient times. In the Ming Dynasty, due to military needs, earthen cities, barracks and checkpoints were built here. Due to the dangerous terrain, it has become a natural pass, which is the throat from Pingyang to Xishan. It is a battleground for military strategists. And because it is surrounded by mountains on three sides, it is often called "Longguan" or "Black Dragon". "Pingyang Jiuzhi" summarized Pu County's "Xingsheng" and first proposed the word "Longguan". It said: "Longguan is strong in the east, Lushan is high in the north, rivers are dangerous in the west, and steep mountains stand in the south. ". In the seventh year of Ming Dynasty (AD 1627), Pu County was established as the county seat. When talking about Heilong Pass, it was said that "Heilong Linhong is the key to the pass." Heilong Pass gradually became famous. The people who actually called Heilongguan instead of Zhang Cuncha started from the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty.

During the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the world moved from great chaos to great order, and became increasingly peaceful. The Heilongguan barracks was laid off, the people immigrated and relocated, and the development and construction of Heilongguan began. Because it is a group development, Heilongguan is not a village with only one surname, but a mixture of surnames living together and integrated into one. Regardless of the number of family members in each surname or region, whether they live in the southeast, northwest, or how long they have been settled, the villagers treat each other with sincerity and live in harmony, becoming a newly formed country of etiquette and music. The folk customs here are simple, honest and kind-hearted. Be patient without being timid, be gentle without being cowardly, be thrifty without being arrogant, be straightforward without being reckless. He is kind to people from all over the world and makes friends from all over the world. Most of the officials, businessmen and people in distress from other places stay here and choose to live next to each other, living in harmony with each other and having a harmonious relationship. Heilongguan never bullies students or excludes others. The "door" is always open, like the sea accepting all rivers, constantly enriching, growing and developing itself.

Heilongguan is an earth-rock mountainous area with denudation and erosion structural landforms. The bedrock of the mountain is exposed, the climate is cold, and the frost-free period is short. As the "Pu County Chronicle" says: "The wind is high and the air is cold, so it is not suitable to grow cotton. The harvest is also thin due to the stone bone soil skin. Plant late and harvest early. The fear of frost is the same as the fear of drought. There are many fields and few dung. A good year is equal to middle age." However, the forest and grass resources are lush, the natural vegetation is good, and the underground mineral resources are rich, mainly including coal, iron and other ores. The terrain within the territory is high in the east and low in the west. As the terrain undulates, the valleys between the mountains are deep, and the mountains, rivers, slopes, ravines, and mounds are all in shape. The further west you go, the deeper the coal mines are buried and difficult to mine; but the better the light and heat conditions, the more fertile the land is, which is suitable for the growth of crops, cash crops and various fruit trees.

From the Ming Dynasty until the early 1950s, the political, economic and cultural center of Heilongguan Town has been Huale. Huale was once the location of a village, a town, a road, and a district. It was also once "the largest market in Pu County, with no free days every month." Business here is prosperous, businessmen gather here, the shops are well-known, there are many shops, the culture is developed, and education is valued. Huale, it has been brilliant for several times, so beautiful.
