Do Korean immigrant women have a high status?

The Korean government announced the results of the "Survey on the Status of Marriage Immigrants" focusing on the above contents. The survey was conducted among 77 married immigrants (female 1063, male 165438) in China, and 20 of them were interviewed by different countries and genders to understand the whole marriage and family life, such as the marriage process, family members and raising children.

In Korea, women's status is low. 43.8% of female immigrants and 4 1% of male immigrants respectively said that women's status in South Korea is lower than their own country. Especially Japanese (65.4%), Han (62.0%) and Korean (45.3%) women feel strongly in this respect. In addition, many people marry their spouses without obtaining correct information, so it is found in the investigation that a mechanism is very necessary to fully understand the real situation of spouses in the marriage process.

Among the married immigrant women, 13.2% said that "what I heard about my spouse before marriage is not true." However, as many as 3 1% of Vietnamese women who have achieved transnational marriage mainly through intermediaries say that the information they heard beforehand is not true.

Inconsistent contents include: property (35.3%), personality (32.8%), occupation (27.7%), living habits (26.9%) and income (26. 1%).

As for the reasons why Koreans choose foreign spouses, men and women have completely different answers. Men generally replied, "I feel that finding a foreigner as a spouse will be very obedient and filial to my parents" (39.5% in rural areas and 36.9% in cities), "It is different from Korean women in appearance.

There is not much difference "(33.6% in rural areas and 38% in cities). And 79.6% of women answered because they liked each other.

"There is an urgent need for Korean education and job hunting."

Marriage immigrant families point out that the most difficult thing in family life is communication, so it is necessary to expand the implementation of systematic Korean education.

Marriage immigrants pointed out that in the process of raising children, the most difficult thing is the lack of Korean communication skills (29.9%), and the most urgent thing is Korean education (46. 1%).

It is understood that at present, 34.2% (male 9 1.8%) of female immigrants are working, and about 80% (female 82.3%, male 77.8%) of unemployed immigrants want to work. As for the reasons for not being employed, 54. 1% of women are raising children, and 62.5% of men can't find jobs. The most needed services for immigrants are Korean education (39.7%), employment education and training (15.2%), computer and information education (13.9%).

At the same time, 68.5% of marriage immigrant families said that their children were educated directly by themselves, while 7.2% of marriage immigrant families spent their children alone during the day, which was three times that of the whole country (2.3%, based on 2005). Therefore, it is urgent to provide special support for marriage immigrant families to raise their children.
