What is reservoir migration?

Generally speaking, the immigrants in the reservoir area are affected by the new water conservancy projects. Because of the rising water level in the reservoir area, residents who need to be submerged by the water level have to move out of their original residences. These residents who need to move are immigrants in the reservoir area.

At present, the immigrants in China's reservoir area mainly refer to the immigrants in the Three Gorges reservoir area. 1In August, 1993, the State Council issued Order 126, and the Regulations on Resettlement for Three Gorges Project came into effect.

As the Three Gorges Project enters the formal construction preparation stage, the immigrants in the reservoir area will begin to move in a planned way.

According to the preliminary design report of the Three Gorges Project, the Three Gorges Reservoir began to operate at the initial water level of156m in 2006. By AD 17 (2009), all the hub projects were completed. Water level in front of reservoir dam1.75m. The backwater end of the design flood with a return period of 20 years in flood season is located in Marble Yard, Mudong Town, Baxian County, covering 20 counties (cities, districts) in Hubei and Sichuan provinces. After the flood season, the backwater of 1 1.5-year return design water is located in Yangjiaotan, Jiangjin City, flooding some floodplains in Chongqing and Jiangjin City. According to the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Standing Committee), in conjunction with local governments at all levels in Sichuan and Hubei provinces. 199 1 to1by the end of June, 1992, the main physical indicators of flood disaster (including the physical indicators of Mao Ping Nature Reserve in Zigui County) were: 846,200 people were directly flooded (referring to the population whose houses were flooded, the same below) and 257,300 mu of cultivated land were flooded,/kloc-0. Flooded towns (cities and counties) 13, market towns 1 14, flooded industrial and mining enterprises 1599, and various professional facilities in flooded areas. According to the nature of inundation, the counties (cities, districts) that need reservoir inundation treatment and resettlement planning are Yichang County, Zigui County, Xingshan County and Badong County in Hubei Province, Wushan County, Wuxi County, fengjie county County, Yunyang County, Kaixian County, Tiancheng District, Longbao District, Wuqiao District, Zhongxian County, Shizhu County, Fengdu County and Fuling County in Sichuan Province. Chongqing City and Jiangjin City need to put forward a flooding treatment plan.

People who migrate from these flooded areas to all parts of the country are also called (Three Gorges) reservoir immigrants.

Similarly, 1956, Sanmenxia project immigrants moved from here to all parts of the country, known as reservoir immigrants.
