The iconic element of Thanksgiving is the turkey. Thanksgiving Day, also known as Turkey Festival, originated from early immigrants in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. When they first arrived in America, they relied on the materials provided by Indians and the skills of planting, hunting and raising turkeys to survive the crisis of hunger and cold. To thank God and Indians for their help, these immigrants created Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day is a traditional holiday in the West and a holiday created by the American people. The early Thanksgiving was decided by American states. It was not until 194 1 that the US Congress officially decided to locate Thanksgiving Day on the fourth Thursday in June 1 1.
